So happy I found this Asian grocery store!! We came right when it opened and the bakery smelled so delicious. I was amazed at the variety of fresh and plentiful baked goods! The pork bun and custard buns were sooo fluffy and delicious. We were very pleased with everything we tried. I was even surprised to see the precooked food counter. The store was larger than expected and much cleaner than other Asian markets I've been in. It was very organized and well stocked. I enjoyed browsing through everything including the small section of home goods. Definitely recommend and will be back soon...probably tomorrow :).
After shopping at Kam Man Market, I feel it's necessary to share my experience. I've noticed that their prices are significantly higher than 99 Ranch for similar items. For instance, a bag of fish balls costs $1 more than the same product at 99 Ranch, and in fact, almost every item is about $1 more expensive compared to 99 Ranch. If you buy 10 items each time you shop, that translates to an extra $10 spent, which is quite surprising.
Apart from the pricing issue, I encountered some unpleasant moments at the bakery checkout. When I approached the payment counter and there was no cashier, I politely said, "Hello, I'd like to check out" in Mandarin. To my surprise, one of the staff members responded rudely in Cantonese, "Can't you wait a bit?" While I didn't understand at the time, my boyfriend did, and this made me feel quite disrespected.
In summary, while Kam Man Market offers some good products like hot food, their prices are clearly higher than the competition, and their customer service needs improvement. I'd prefer to shop at a place with more reasonable prices and friendlier service.
